Teresa M. Barrett, MA

Hello!  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I received a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006.  I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of fields including gambling addiction counseling, school-based mental health counseling, student assistance counseling, and employee assistance counseling.  Since 2007, I have been specializing in the field of child, adolescent, and family therapy while also working with adults and couples to help strengthen and support the family unit.

I believe that unconditional love/acceptance, empathy, and hope are essential to the process of emotional healing and I focus on the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental environment to process the challenges and hurts you may be experiencing.  Goals of therapy are holistic in nature and include increasing your understanding of yourself and your life experiences, identifying your strengths, increasing your positive support network, and building a “toolbox” of healthy coping skills.
