Dakota Funk, LISW

(He, Him, His)

I am a licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) who provides mental health therapy to individuals & families of all ages.  I specialize in working with younger children with behavioral issues, trauma, and attachment issues.  I also work with individuals who have difficulties related to: anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, grief, divorce, parenting, family therapy, adjustment issues, & co-occurring issues related to substance abuse and mental health.

I utilize an integrative and eclectic approach to treatment.  I believe in utilizing the client’s strengths in their individualized treatment and to help guide clients to their overall treatment goals. I have an understanding of many evidence-based therapeutic modalities  but the primary therapeutic approaches I utilize are: Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy Techniques, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).  I am also a certified LGBTQ Affirmative Therapist and have experience working with children exploring their gender identity and individuals with Gender Dysphoria.  I have experience writing Gender-Affirming letters for Hormone Therapy and surgery.  I also have experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and individuals with intellectual disabilities.

I believe every person can navigate their mental health by utilizing their strengths and building on that.  That is the foundation I build on when I work with individuals and families who want to learn new skills and also build on the skills they already have.  I also believe in providing a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can learn, grow, and realize their potential and goals.
