Substance Abuse and Addiction Treatment

Substance abuse can take on many forms – addiction to alcohol, codeine, heroin, opium, tobacco, and more. If you, or someone you know, need support to break away from substance abuse, consider turning to the qualified and professional staff at Central Iowa Psychological Services. Several techniques and tools will be used, including:

We will explore underlying emotional and situational causes that may cause addictive behaviors. As relationships are built during the program, we will focus on healing personal pain and improving communication skills in a safe and supportive environment.

At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to recognize changes to make to reduce or eliminate further addiction. Our goal is to equip each participant with the tools and resources they need to maintain changes and growth after leaving treatment.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-Assisted Treatment is the use of certain medications to treat opioid dependency and substance addiction. At Central Iowa Psychological Services, we offer several different FDA-approved medications to relieve withdrawal symptoms and psychological cravings that cause chemical imbalances. Counselors, providers, and nurse practitioners work together to provide evidence-based individual treatment options that allow for more focus on recovery.

MAT May Relieve Addiction to:

Family Involvement

Family therapy may also be included as part of the overall treatment plan. Our program may include the use of the MEE Journal System from the Change Company. Along with this journal system, other written materials or interactive writing projects are tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
