Couples Counseling

What is Couples Counseling?

Cultivating fulfilling relationships is an integral part of our work at Central Iowa Psychological Services. Couples counseling includes marriage counseling, premarital counseling, and counseling for partners who are dating or living together. Our psychologists and therapists who specialize in marital and couples counseling are highly experienced.

We focus on renewing the emotional connection, improving communication, and moving a relationship to a new level of understanding. Through a variety of methods, we help couples improve their communication skills and increase their emotional bond. Our counselors bring a holistic understanding of gender identity and sexual orientation to his or her practice, and all of our counseling services are applicable for LGBTQ relationships and communities.

Moving Forward from a Relationship

If a couple decides to end their relationship, it’s important to remember that this process is not a one-time event. Rather, it’s a transition to a new kind of relationship. Every relationship has its own unique struggles and experiences which are valid and difficult. Our therapists can help couples make this transition in a smoother and more collaborative way. We work with clients to help find peace after the breakup, regain self-confidence, and begin to move forward.
